Hot water does it!
Kim in Mesa, AZ USA -
I've tried mouthwash, rubbing alcohol, baking soda paste, asprin paste, x marks the spot method and every type of anti-itch cream on the shelves and nothing has worked. I got desperate and figured I would try the "hottest water you can handle" method. IT WORKS! Just run your tap water until it gets really hot. Soak a clean wash cloth in the water and apply to mesquito bite for 10 seconds and repeat. Be careful not to burn yourself. This really works! A little pain for some much needed relief!

Keep it simple
Chad M. in Madison, WI USA -
After walking through a patch of nettles, I learned that ice/ cold water helps to reduce itching fast. The same thing applies to mosquito bites. Simply rub an ice cube over any bites for 30 seconds to a minute. Swelling should go down along with the irritation.

Hydrocortisone Band Aid
Anonymous in Louisiana -
Use any kind of band-aid, the little spot ones work best. Squirt some hydrocortisone on the band-aid gauze and place over the insect bite. It keeps you from scratching and acts as a slow release of Hydrocortisone. I use it on my daughter who welps up on every bite. When I treat her bites with this before bed they are usually dramatically better by morning and at least have stopped itching her. Good luck!

Boiling Water
tracy in seattle, wa -
Boil water and dip a washcloth into it. Then dab the cloth directly onto the bite but be careful not to hold on bite for too long. You don't want to burn the skin. This HURTS as you may realize but it worked for me and I've heard from others that it has worked for them too.

slip and slide!!
Anonymous in Wichita Falls, Texas -
When I have an itch I can't seem to scratch in the night and I don't feel like getting up, I reach for a bottle of personal lube (preferably KY or Astroglide) and lube up my bites. I know it sounds dirty, but I swear it works. (Have some fun with it! Let your partner do it for you, and who knows....;-)

mosquito bite remedy
Keri in Colorado -
I used a combo of a couple remedies. I was waking up scratching to the point where I was almost bleeding. I am allergic to them. I rubbed a salt and water paste over the bites and let sit for 10 min. Then rinsed off my legs with as hot of water as I could stand. Then I mixed the baking soda and water paste and applied to the bites. Worked better than Calamine lotion or Aveeno bath or even cortazone cream!
